Guitar Hero World Tour Preview

By Gordon Gystime

Guitar Hero: World Tour by Activision is said to follow in the footsteps of its predecessor, GH3: Legends of Rock. This series has been able to give testament to just how big the market for musical games is out there. And with new features incorporated into Guitar Hero WT, Activision is set to create what could be the biggest music game release the industry has seen yet.

The biggest feature of Guitar Hero World Tour is the enhancement of its instruments and the inclusion of the music creator. Hence, it realizes your ultimate rock star fantasies by giving you more control on how you play this game.

Aside from the guitar controller that you have come to expect, Activision has also included drums and vocals into the list of instruments available for Guitar Hero World Tour. However, the guitar was not neglected at all; in fact, it had some enhancements done to expand your entire musical experience.

The neck of the guitar has a touch strip which allows you to change notes by merely touching that part. And if you want to switch to star power anytime or go to the menu, you can now easily access the buttons. Meanwhile, the drum set for Guitar Hero WT is not banging loud. Moreover, the sound produced by the pad itself is now more realistic, varying based on the impact and speed of how the pads are hit.

With Guitar Hero World Tour, its customization feature is probably one that allows you to personalize your approach into this game. Aside from the real rock stars in the roster, you can opt to make your own rock star or have a virtual rock star version of yourself. In terms of customization, it can range from the facial features, to the style, the genre, and the overall look itself. The same customization feature is also evident when it comes to the instruments so it matches the overall musical personality you're trying to create.

Because Guitar Hero World Tour is a music game, having a good track list is important. With bands like Linkin Park, Sublime, Van Halen, or Foo Fighters, there's bound to be a tune you'd love to play. Meanwhile, the gameplay still consists of the typical vertical scroll and horizontal bar to adjust instruments and words, respectively.

Aside from the bands mentioned to appear in the lineup, expect downloadable songs to arrive soon after the game's release or you can make your own through the music creator. A wizard will help walk you through using the music creator to make your own tracks so you can submit it for other fellow gamers to download.

Other gameplay elements included in Guitar Hero WT include a maximum of five careers to choose from and a non-linear difficulty progression that suits everyone. For starters to this game, you can practice your guitar and music skills through the new beginner difficulty.

Activision refuses to give out a specific price for this game but vows that it will remain competitive with other music titles there are. - 2361
