Pink Acoustic Guitar

By Mellisa Jane Green

You might be surprised when your pre-teen girl begs for a pink acoustic guitar. Usually, guitars are asked by brooding teenage boys and not by little girls dressed up as princesses five years ago. There might be a temptation for you to initially observe if your daughter loses interest, or purchase an inexpensive guitar instead. Before you go ahead, there are pointers for you to seriously consider first.

Nowadays it is a trend for young girls to want to become musicians. As parents, you may want to encourage this. The popular television show Hannah Montana which is about a young pop star has been one of the reasons behind this trend for young girls. For young ladies who would like to be stars, there are many pros and cons. As parents, you might perhaps wish to grab this temporary interest in a popular trend like the pink acoustic guitars, and make it a serious life-long interest for your daughter.

Playing guitar can be very beneficial for young women to have a creative outlet that can process their feelings. Unlike years before, the pressures and expectations nowadays on young people, especially young girls are greater. This may be social pressures, body image pressures, likewise early sexual and academic pressures too. The trend with girls, quite often with scary results, is to internalize pain or stress. With their privacy in mind, you can guide them into enjoying creative outlets such as playing a guitar and encouraging them into these types of releasing all forms of their emotions - whether they be bad, good or somewhere in between.

A young girl can write songs about puppy love, breakups and finding new love in the solitude of her own room. If she doesn't want to, it isn't necessary for her to let anyone else know about her guitar songs. But giving her the confidence to perform, even just for your family, can help you learn about the experiences she might be going through that you wouldn't find about in any other way.

Before you buy a guitar for your child there are a few things you should think about. First, don't just buy the cheapest guitar you can find. Her first guitar, even if it is a pink acoustic guitar, should not be bought in the toy section of your local discount store. Even an experienced guitarist would have a problem playing a cheap instrument. So find a music store in your area. Make her first guitar a good experience.

There are various guitars that are visually appealing to girls. The Daisy Rock is a popular company that specialize in guitars designed just for girls. It is with a good reason they call themselves The Girl Guitar Company. They sell a variety of guitars from plain pink acoustic guitars to heart and butterfly shaped guitars.

Rather than making your little girl's first guitar a surprise gift, take her to the store with you when you shop for it. Each guitar is a little bit different so each pink acoustic guitar is not made in the same way. By allowing your daughter to choose her own guitar, she will get the one that feels best in her hands and the one that sounds just right to her and it will earn a special place in her heart.
