Attributes Of A Skilled Corporate Photographer

By Nadine Phillips

Corporate photography has become an integral part of companies of all kinds and sizes, but finding a good person for this job is not easy. Corporate photography needs an entirely different set of expertise that several expert photographers in the market who are skilled in other forms of photography may not have.

Companies intending to hire a corporate photographer must look for some key qualities and check the experience of the candidate to ensure that he can deliver desirable results.

Versatility is an essential quality that a corporate photographer must have, so that he can handle multiple types of jobs and responsibilities like events coverage, ad photography, or taking impressive photos of the company's products. A preferred corporate photographer should always be keen to execute all these responsibilities with haste and careful attention.

Fast-paced corporate events don't let photographers to comfortably plan different angles or go for retakes, so extreme vigilance on the part of the photographer is vital. Many unexpected things happen at corporate events, and a laid back approach on part of the photographer will ultimately have an adverse effect on his photographs. Hence, a corporate photographer must act with a sense of urgency and be vigilant for any new developments in the happenings.

It is also very essential for a corporate photographer to be able to make the best of the resources available with him. For instance, if it is an indoor event, he may have to cover it under low intensity or insufficient lights and probably a large gathering of guests. Even in such adverse situations, he must be able to capture impressive pictures.

Another crucial factor that must not be neglected is the photographer's work ethic and his personality. It is essential for a corporate photographer to know the preferences of the company and also what the company seeks from him. A good photographer should be able to build a good rapport with the staff, as they need to be comfortable when the pictures are being taken at official or casual events in the company. Moreover, the photographer must have a good disposition and should be pleasant to work with.

You should study samples of earlier work of the photographer, and not take decision on the basis of his credentials alone. It is a good idea to undertake personal interviews of candidates to get a clearer understanding of their personalities and check their appropriateness for the role. - 2361
