Critics often dismiss Frank Sinatra as a mere 'pop' singer and don't afford him the respect that they give to his contemporaries. He's often accused of lacking technical vocal mastery and simply a singer who reworked a 'formula' over and over again. While Sinatra certainly knew what he liked and what worked for him, to belittle his artistry as a vocalist is unfair and displays a superficial knowledge of his body of work. Perhaps the finest example of his vocal excellence is his work with Brazilian guitarist Antonio Carlos Jobim.

Jobim is considered the founding father of Bossa Nova, and certainly deserves a bulk of the credit for popularizing the genre in North America. His collaboration with Sinatra on a samba tinged album Francis Albert Sinatra and Antonio Carlos Jobim was a critical and commerical success. Sinatra had the highest respect for Jobim as an artist and liked him as a friend. He would try to work out the logistics for the two to record together at several points in his career, but it never came to pass.

"Wave", written by Jobim and arranged by Eumir Deodato, is among the best of all of the Sinatra/Jobim collaborations. It features some amazing vocal work by Sinatra, including perhaps the lowest notes he ever hit on a recording. It is said that for the rest of his life Sinatra would listen to "Wave" just to hear how good he sounds hitting the bass notes.

This song was to have been a featured track on a second collection of Sinatra/Jobim collaborations, but for some inexplicable reason it was never released as such. The story that has circulated over the years is that the Sinatra/Jobim album was all set to be released, and for some reason it was put on the back burner so that Reprise could release the concept album "Watertown" instead. As an artistic decision, it's tough to fathom the rationale if this is the case. "Watertown" sold fewer copies than any other Sinatra release on Reprise, and to call it an "acquired taste" is being charitable. Another story is that Sinatra himself nixed the release because he didn't like the cover art. The braintrust that came up with the idea of photographing the Chairman of the Board wearing a windbreaker and standing in front of a Greyhound bus could have been responsible for depriving the world of a second sublime collection of Sinatra with a bossa nova twist.

"Wave", along with the majority of the songs intended for the "Sinatra/Jobim" album finally surfaced on "Sinatra and Company" in 1970. The "b" side is some of Sinatra's ill-fated attempts to cover popular songs of the day ("Close To You", It's Not Easy Being Green", "Leaving On A Jet Plane"). These are recordings that even the most rabid Sinatra fans consider among his most forgettable work, and a stark contrast to the masterful collaboration with Jobim on the album's "A" side. "Wave" also appeared on the Reprise box set and of course of the "Complete Reprise Recordings" suitcase collection.

Will Friedwald, in his definitive book on Sinatra's music "Sinatra: The Song Is You" described the singer's work with Jobim as having "flexibility and delicacy, as if they could be blown about by a soft Brazilian breeze". Step3: Now that you recognize who the stakeholders are and the involved audience, you can start to form your photographs in a matter that high light you're aesthetic specialties but show your commercial viability. The Flaming Lips: Best Seven Studio Albums

The Flaming Lips 12th album, Embryonic, is set to come out sometime this year. With that in mind, here's a look back at the best seven Lips albums to date. They are ordered by time not by greatness!

In a Priest Driven Ambulance (1990) - For some Lips fans this is still their greatest album. While I personally don't personally have that belief, you are a noise rock fanatic then you may have that opinion too. If you are new to the band and have been brought into the fold by some of their more recent albums then you may find this one a bit difficult to listen to at first, but I recommend giving it at least a few spins to give it a fair shot because there's some great songs on this album.

Hit to Death in the Future Head (1992) - I think Hit to Death... is an underrated Lips album that deserves far more praise than it gets. I hear a big advance from Priest... to Hit to Death... as far as sonic experimentation and psychedelia.

Transmission from the Satellite Heart (1993) - This is probably the Lips most overrated album because it has their most overrated song, "She Don't Use Jelly," on it. It's still a great album though because a lot of the other songs are very good.

Clouds Taste Metallic (1995) - The pinnacle of the Ronald Jones era. After this album Jones (the lead guitarist) left the band and they went in an entirely different direction. For some this new direction was even better than the old, while others will always prefer the old style of the Lips.

Zaireeka (1997) - This is the Lips at their most experimental. The album actually consists of four CDs which are meant to be played simultaneously. This creates more of a "music experience" than just simply listening to an album. It's not for everyone, but for those who get it, it's a true masterpiece.

The Soft Bulletin (1999) - My favorite Lips album to date. It's just about as perfect as psychedelic pop rock music can get. It's experimental yet classic at the same time.

Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots (2002) - This was an exciting new direction in 2002. Sadly I think the Lips overplayed this hand with 2006's At War with the Mystics which is, in my opinion, the worst Lips album since the "bad old days" of the 1980s. - 2361

Five Amazing Ways To Make Your Pre-Wedding Photography Shine

In order to get a timeless, beautiful look for your pre-wedding photography, follow five tips that will ensure the focus is on you, the newly engaged couple, and not your clothes or the background.

1. Dress in classic styles that you're comfortable in. If you're normally a dressy gal, then go ahead and buy a special new dress or skirt for the occasion. If you're a jeans and T-shirt person, though, don't try to dress up just to dress up. The discomfort will show on your face, so stick to jeans (clean!) and a dressier top. A simple outfit in a solid color is your best bet, and make sure your significant other is wearing a color that complements yours.

2. Don't dress in up-to-the minute trends. While you think it looks great now, in about 20 years, you'll feel the same way as you do now when you view '80s photos. In other words, it dates the photo and makes it more about the fashion than the couple. Along the same lines, take off your eyeglasses for the photos, if possible. They are one of the easiest ways to tell in what era a photograph was taken.

3. When posing for the camera, smile with your whole face. What that means is to let that smile radiate through your face into your eyes. Don't be afraid to smile with your mouth open a bit or even laugh during the photo shoot. This brings a twinkle into your eyes and shows how truly happy you two are.

4. Push your face toward the camera when posing for a photo. To make this easier, pretend you're a turtle and crane out neck out your shell toward the camera. This shouldn't be forced, just a slight push forward to reduce double chins (not that we're suggesting you have one!) and tighten facial skin. It might feel a little strange to you, but the camera won't be able to capture your contortion - just the effect it has on your appearance.

5. Go for a fun and relaxed look. Posed photos are boring! You can hardly romp around in your wedding dress, so this is the time for you to get some shots of you and your fiancee having fun! The empire state building became extremely popular after the movie King Kong was shot in 1933. At the time, it was dubbed the tallest building. However, the mystery surrounding it still counts for visits from over two million visitors annually.

3. Central Park This major tourist centre occupies three hundred and forty one hectares of land is synonymous with its name in its location at the centre of Manhattan. Located between 5th and 8th avenue, central park consists of ice rinks for those who want to skate, theatres, baseball fields, fountains, lakes, a Zoo, a museum, tennis courts and a host of facilities. And the best part of central park is access to it is free of charge. A must see as part of a New York City vacation package.

4. Fifth Avenue For those who love shopping, 5th Ave is an awesome place to be.
