By Bryan Smith

For beginners to learn how to play the keyboard, advices from someone experienced is always important. Proper guidance ensures that the keyboard beginners take the right path when learning how to play keyboards and accelerate their overall progress.

For those keyboard beginners without mentors, there are common mistakes that they tend to make and can sometimes result in undesired long term repercussion. Here are 3 common mistakes to avoid.

1) Negligence on the basics

Foundation learning is the keystone in achieving proficiency when you pick up any new skills. In the case of playing the keyboard, this is even more so. Some keyboard beginners took the wrong decision by going straight into playing instead of starting off with basic exercises that teach them how to play with the correct hand postures. Not learning musical theories can also hinder the progress of keyboard beginners later, when they are bound to face problems reading the scores.

2) Lack of Passion

Many people choose to learn to play keyboard because of the glamorous side such as being able to play the keyboard by ear and composing music. They completely missed the fact that to get to such levels of adequacies, immense amount of practice, hard work, and time need to be sacrificed first.

Keyboard beginners sometimes come into the picture because they are under the illusion that playing the keyboard can be learnt quickly. When exposed to the reality that consistent work is required first and foremost, many will look back and realize that the keyboard may not be right for them after all.

3) Learning from the wrong materials

Some keyboard beginners unfortunately fall for the traps of keyboard teachers and home study courses that misguide them from the very first day. It is dangerous for keyboard beginners to learn from the wrong syllabus as bad habits, such as poor hand postures, are extremely hard to rid of once cultivated.

Another threat is when the beginners who are taught by the wrong people will most certainly find improvements harder to come by, as a result of their poor education. Many keyboard beginners lose confidence and give up under such scenario.

The common mistakes that keyboard beginners make are often linked to decisions made due to a lack of good advice for them in the beginning. When you start out without anybody providing information for you, always make sure you take some time to do all the necessary research first. - 2361
