How To Create A Mii

By Adrian Fletcher

Like most of the new generation of game consoles, the Nintendo wii is much more than just a games machine. Sure the games are probably what attracts most people to the Nintendo wii but it can do many other thing besides.

You can watch movies on it, browse the internet, download games, upload photos and even communicate with your buddies. Of course this presupposes that the machine is connected to the internet but nevertheless, your humble games console can connect you to the rest of the world and allow you to have sophisticated communications with them. Oh and you can play a few games too.

An aspect that is truly unique to the Nintendo wii is the mii channel. This article will cover what the mii channel is and what a mii is.

When the wii boots up, your tv screen will show a bank of smaller TV screen images. These are known as channels. You can select different channels to do different things. In the case of a mii, you select the mii channel.

If you are still unsure what the mii channel is all about, then think about it this way. It is the part of the wii system that allows you to create a representation of you on the system and how you are seen by other wii users.

So you make a character in wii space that reflects your personality. If you want to play with a straight bat, this mii can look like you in reality or you can get creative and make a fantasy version that includes outlandish facial hair, facial ticks and bling wear. Your only limit is your imagination. You can create more than one mii if you like or want to experiment.

If you want to create a mii it is very straightforward. You go to the mii plaza. This is where the miis lounge around, waiting to be called for a game of tennis or baseball. A button on the left of the screen lets you create a new mii. This gives you an opportunity to let your creative juices start to flow.

You go through a series of screens that build your new mii character from scratch. The screens cover every detail of the new character, like gender, name and physical details. You can enter the height and weight of the character and how the face looks.

This can be a lotta fun as you tinker with your ideal character. Should it have a hippy feel to it or maybe the bald look. Maybe you've always had a hankering for a big afro hairdo. Indulge all your hair fantasies. You can even deck your character out with facial hair and accessories like glasses and jewelry.

Once you have a few mini miis to play boxing or tennis or another game, it can really bring the games to life. You can identify with your character and enjoy the game play more.

Miis, being the sociable creatures that they are can mingle too. This basically means that they can pop up on other peoples Nintendo wii consoles and feature in games. This is good for adding an extra touch of originality to your game play. You can also get ideas for new wii characters by meeting mingling miis from other wii owners. - 2361
