Editing Software for Digital Photos

By David Peters

The advent of digital cameras has brought about a difference not only in how we take our pictures but also in what we have the ability to do to our photos once taken. Not every person will take a perfect picture every single time, but with digital technology that picture does not have to be wasted. Software is available that can edit your pictures from sitting behind the computer instead of from behind the camera lens.

Here is a list of some of the software types you can purchase for editing your digital photos:

Kodak EasyShare Freeware - Perhaps the most well known software version, this program is simply to understand and use for those having just bought a camera.

Infran View. With this specific type of software you can change the tone of the graphics as well as the way it is taken and you can crop it how you like it. All these features come in one simple and free software program that I have found to be very simple and easy to use.

Image Force - This is another freeware program to edit your photos. A tool is provided that will transfer pictures from the digital camera to scanners. Enhancing features and other photo modifications can be performed with this program.

VCW Photo Editor. This other free editing software is just like other free editing software you can enhance looks and modify graphics on the photos which you are editing.

PhotoFilter - Don't let this simple software program fool you. Although the features are limited compared to some, this program is well designed in its user interface and a variety of image adjustments buttons, effects, and filters.

Picture Shark - This is another free editing program that comes with all of the features as the others listed here but with the distinction of being able to write on your photograph. Adding captions, text and even an autograph to a photo can be done in a snap!

Picasa - This smart freeware comes from Google with many features. It will save your pictures according to size and how you name them making it simple to find the pictures when you need to edit them. Simply take the pictures saved on your computer and move them into the editing area of Picasa for changes.

Serif Photo Plus. This editing software is most like others you can crop; enhance the graphics, slice, and much more with this editing program.

ADG Panorama Version 5.0 - While this program offers the same editing functions, it also offers the ability to be able to edit 360 degrees around the photo you are working with.

This is only a short list of the many programs available but these are considered to be some of the best software for editing your digital photos. Sample one of the free programs available and try your hand at editing your own digital photos.
