5 Ways You Can Make Money With Adobe Photoshop

By David Peters

While Adobe Photoshop is one of the most popular imaging software packages around, it comes with a price! Here is a compilation of five ways you can generate money using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, as a business endeavor, for some extra money, or just to regain your investment.

1. Provide a Photo Restoration Service. Almost everyone has at least a few photos that have become damaged or have just not stood the test of time as well as others. Using Photoshop features like the Healing Brush, Spot Healing Brush and the Patch tools, these photos can be made picture perfect again.

2) Photograph Doctor - What could have been a ruined image can be made picture perfect with "red-eye," "pet eye," poor exposure and of course that finger over the lens being a thing of the past. Photoshop can also be used to transform a color photograph into black and white, or add tints of color into a black and white photo to make it color. There will always be "sick" photographs out there to be made better.

3. Design Greetings Cards. Making custom greeting cards is easier than ever with the photo enhancement and graphic design abilities of Photoshop. Enhance photos, transform them into drawings or paintings, blend photos for funny cards to name just a few of the endless possibilities. Holidays, events and other special occasions are all taken care of, even the card to say hello is covered. Card blanks and their envelopes can be found through specialist suppliers locally or online.

4) Design T-shirts - How many times have you seen something that you thought would make a great t-shirt? It can be hanging in your closet thanks to Photoshop. Transfers can be found at stationery shops or craft stores and plain cotton t-shirt can be purchased from low cost suppliers or even found in bulk online.

5) Web Design - This is a skill always in high demand. From designing full websites, to a few buttons or banners, you can capitalize on this need. Charge for web site personalization, or design generic templates that can be bought and downloaded for customers to customize themselves.

As with any business, you may need to consider additional equipment. A color printer, scanner and digital camera would help support these job opportunities and can be found at reasonable prices on sale or through eBay and other websites. Invest in a DVD of royalty free images that permit their use for commercial ventures.

The best advertisement comes from people. Ask friends and relatives, work associates and other connections if they or anyone they might know are in need of your services. Another option is to approach retailers with a portfolio of your work, and offer them commissions on any work they send your way.
