Not another top hip hop rapper list

By June Beezy

Aren't you tired of people coming up with all these bogus best hip hop artists lists. You've probably seen them all, just do a search on google and you'll see what I'm talking about. Most people don't even understand what the word 'rapper' means. A rapper is not someone who spits out the tightest lyrics or just has the most crazy flow. A rapper is someone who is the total package and his or her influence is enormous.

To be the best rapper, it's all about how many people you've influenced. To me the greatest rapper or one of the greatest rapper is the person who has had the most impact. How do you know if someone has had an impact or not? This is where you analyze three things, the beat, the rhymes, the flow and the hustle of the rapper. It has to be that perfect combination of things and when done right, transforms into greatness. When taking all those things into perspective, you will see that the huge list that you had in your head begins to narrow down.

So my list has Tupac, Percy Miller, Puff Daddy, Curtis and Marshall Mathers. Tupac has had almost Michael Jackson like impact on the world. You can go to the middle east and when people think of rap music, they think of Tupac (Or Snoop Dogg). The westcoast started it all when it comes to taking things to international levels. Even a decade after his passing he is still raking in millions. I hope the money is truly going to his family but that is something I don't know what is going with. Percy Miller also known as 'Master P' comes in second because he brought the idea of building empires with his music. How many rappers or musicians you know end up on the richest men in the country list on Forbes magazine?

Finally when Marshall came up it was like a re-brith in rap music. Here you had a white rapper who actually had some phenomenal skills. The color barrier was broken again and this time it was the opposite. You would think that after all the suffering black people went through, they would let the white kid do his thing but I guess anger is something that can slow down creativity, but not completely halt it.

Finally we have P Diddy who almost single handedly brought the rap game to the mainstream and pop charts. Some might argue that P Diddy made hip hop pop - but I think he made hip hop popular around the world. By using a very new formula of remixing 'white' songs into hip hop dance anthems, P Diddy show cased a new side of hip hop. It is because of P Diddy that the world outside of the US fell in love with hip hop. Not to mention, it was P Diddy who introduced Notorious B.I.G to us.
