The New Orleans Saints Stay On Top of the NFC

By Jordan Wilson

The New Orleans Saints started out the season with all guns blazing. They have the potential to have the greatest offense the league has seen in the last 30 years which includes the 2007 New England Patriots team that set many NFL scoring records.

QB Drew Brees is playing the best he has ever played and will be a favorite for MVP once the season is over. The 09' season should be a good one for the Saints franchise overall, many expect the Saints to play late in January.

Drew Brees has established himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the league - having all the offensive threats such as WR Marques Colston, RB Mike Bell, BB Reggie Bush, and WR Jeremy Shockey. All the pieces are in place for the Saints to win many games this season.

The offense ranks in the top 10 in every major statistical category and should continue to do so all season long. The Saints defense isn't bad either; they are holding opponents to around 20 point per game -- averaging much more then that on offense.

The Saints schedule looks a lot easier then it did in the start of the year, their division isn't as strong as it was in 08'. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in a rebuilding process and the Carolina Panther can't seem to get anything together.

Their week 2 match-up was somewhat tougher. Facing the Philadelphia Eagles, a team that had destroyed the Carolina Panthers in week 1, the team would be forced to play its best football if it wanted a chance of winning.

The New Orleans Saints are one of the 1 in 5 teams never to appear in a Super Bowl -- the others being the Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns, and Detroit Lions.

We know what happened with the 07' New England Patriots - they were on the verge of the greatest NFL season of all time but were defeated in the Super Bowl by the New York Giants. It uncertain the Saints can be as great an offense as the Patriots were in 07', what will matter is how they execute in the playoffs. - 2361
