Eyes Slide Shut

By James Pynn

Graduating to a pair of contact lenses was a big deal for me. What I could now see, thanks to my freed peripheral vision, took some getting used to. It's like being led out of a cave and into the sunlight. The crisp clarity of my contacts compelled me to wear them as much -- and for as long -- as possible. In fact, I wore them to bed for the first couple of months, though my doctor warned me not to. Soon, I found out why this was not a good idea -- it was the morning I awoke to find my eyes wide shut.

I felt like I had just gone toe-to-toe with Larry Holmes -- and each punch had landed on my eye balls. I went to the mirror and peeled back my eye lids to see how bad the damage was. As you can imagine, they were red. Crimson, actually. Think James Dean's jacket from "Rebel Without a Cause". Thick mucus covered the corners of my eyes and the air hitting my eye balls was excruciating.

Though I could barely see, I was late for school and had to get a move on. As I passed my mother on the way to grab my keys, she screamed as if she was auditioning for a Hitchcock film. She commanded me not to go to school. She got on the phone and book an emergency appointment with our ophthalmologist. Great, swollen eyes and a lecture to boot.

As my mother darted in and out of morning traffic, I was quietly suffering in the passenger seat. My eyes began to close like some ancient Aztec tomb. The sunlight made my eyes water more profusely and my head began to pound. My mother had to lead me through the parking lot, all the way into the doctor's office. My ophthalmologist was not happy to see me.

Not much for long speeches, he pulled on a pair of latex gloves and pried open my eyes. Before I could protect, he peeled off my sullied contact lenses. "Did you sleep with them on?" Of course I did. His lecture about contact care was succinct, with I appreciated. He pinched a couple of gobs of antibacterial cream into my eyes and ordered me a new pair of contacts. All in all, not a bad day -- after all, I did get to miss school for the rest of the day. - 2361

Karaoke Nights - Picking Out The Right Song To Sing

By Nellie Hasburn

The largest decision that any karaoke singer has to make for karaoke is what song they should attempt on stage. There are literally thousands of tracks available with most karaoke sets, so it can be intimidating searching through the big book of songs, but if you keep in mind a few tips it will make your night simpler, and provide as much enjoyment as possible.

First, it is fundamental to only select songs that you can sing well and befits your vocals. Whether it is your 1st time or 101st time, you have to ascertain that you can reach at least majority of the notes you need. If you have a deep voice, there is no point of opting music stars like Celine Dion or Whitney Houston, and the same goes for high-pitch voices; Barry White should be out of the question. Instead choose karaoke tracks that accommodate within your vocal range, and that way instead of worrying about if you can hit that powerful note coming up, you will be able to relax and just savor the song.

Selecting the proper karaoke song also depends on what you are getting up stage for. If you are with friends, and looking at getting up as a group for a bit of fun, it is prudent to pick out an up-tempo song that fits your mood instead of a slow ballad. If you are a regular, and want to take something a bit more difficult, there is nothing inappropriate in selecting a slower song if you can handle it.

If you're celebrating an adult / older folks birthday with a karaoke party. You need to acknowledge what songs to choose. Do your homework. You don't want to choose any old karaoke song; you require to choose karaoke music that conjures a feel of nostalgia. Determine what songs were best-selling when the party honoree grew up. Your best bet is to distinguish the top 10 songs of each year or decade and build up your play list round those karaoke tracks.

But a modest point to think about most karaoke bars is that most people are out to have a good time, so preferring a slow and depressing song that does not genuinely fit the ambience of the room can have drastic consequences.

Last, when selecting your karaoke track it is optimal to find a song with a melodic phrase and words that you are at least intimate with. You do not have to recognise every song you get up stage for off by heart (thats why the karaoke screens are there to assist you) but opting a karaoke song that you have heard more than once or twice will give you a bit more confidence in singing on stage. - 2361

Reign in the mystery on ABC Lost

By JD Theis

The amount of mystery that abounds in the plot of the ABC lost, more than that surrounds the latest scoops from the ABC studios and production sites where the filming of the next and the ultimate season of the lost is in full swing.

A source close to a major entertainment site said that the creators have revealed so much in the opening episodes itself of the season six that the ABC executives have given the productions team strict instructions to not release any clips from the opening scenes, even for the purpose advertising and publicity campaign.

So we will all be kept in obscurity while the mystery will continue to reign. One can just hope that the ABC lost airs at the time when the anxieties of the fans regarding the plight and the fate of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 reaches its zenith. What will happen?? Nobody knows.

The season six is scheduled to be aired in 2010, but when nobody knows. But one thing is for sure. Lost on ABC will be missed big time by the fans all over the world. It unleashed a revolution of sorts in the entertainment industry.

Till the telecast of its first episode in 2004, no one had witnessed a TV show of such size and scale as the ABC Lost. Nor one had imagined that it would be possible to play with the abstract entities like the supernatural elements, the fourth dimension time and the fate, whose existence still hangs in mid-air but as the show has it, plays a very important role in the lives of the people.

The show has provided seasonal dose of drama and entertainment and also some insight into the life's tragedies and realities and a belief that in the end, all is well that ends well and also that whatever happens, happens for the good. Needless to say, the ABC lost did a lot of good for people associated with it in some or the other form. The actors, creators and the producers to whom it bought instant fame and glory, the fans to whom it provided redemption from the stereotypical plots aired on the entertainment networks. - 2361

5 New Affordable Toy Trends for Xmas 2009

By Ellie Evergreen

This Christmas there are a wide variety of toys that are available on the market. This gives you the chance to get the items that are on your children's wish lists. It also gives you the opportunity to find toys and games that will fit your holiday budget. A lot of toys even if they are name brands will be well within your spending limits this holiday shopping season. You just have to know where to look. Here are some great suggestions that will give you the most value for your money.

Video games are fast becoming one of the dominant items on kid's list of toys during the holiday. New technology and more game titles are making them even more appealing. The three main consoles that most parents have been wracking their brain to get have been the Sony Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, and the Xbox 360. What makes this holiday shopping season different is that this will be the first holiday season that all three of the major game systems will see a price cut. There are also some anticipated games that will be released as well. If you have not purchased a system yet a good option is the Nintendo Wii. Its motion sensor controls makes game play easy to learn and it has wide selection of games that will appeal to every member of your family.

Board games are also an affordable option that is improving. The board games have been around for centuries if not millennia and even with video games they are still popular. There are still many kinds on the market that make great presents for your kids. Games like Monopoly even have different versions that can be custom made for movies, schools, and even have an electronic version. Board games are a great investment because they are something that the entire family can enjoy together with numerous outcomes. This way playing the games does not become old.

Another route is Green Toys. These are toys that are made with recycled products. These are often cheaper than their regular counter parts but have the same quality. This is great because you can kill two birds with one stone. You are helping the environment while buying something affordable and still on par with what you would be normally buying for your kids. There are many examples like plastic construction toys and even stuffed animals.

Learning toys are a great value purchase for younger children. It is becoming more obvious that early education and teaching your kids the basic is important for future success in school. The big problem has been that many kids fail to learn because it isn't fun or interesting. It is normally boring repetition and exercises. The innovation of learning toys is different. These toys not only help kids learn basic skills like reading and arithmetic, but do it using play. Many of them are basically video games or physical toys. If you want to give something that will allow your kids to learn easily these toys are definitely a good investment.

Another thing you can do is help your kids believe in Santa. A great idea is to order a personalized call from Santa Claus. These can be customized with information about your child's good deeds for the year and what they wanted for Christmas. This is sure to be hugely popular with the kids and reaffirm their faith in Santa. - 2361

The Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Review

By James Ronald Wellingston

This album has become like a "museum piece" because of the way people talk about it with such reverence. Unfortunately this means that not enough people are focusing on what makes the album special in the first place: the music. This article is an attempt to take this album out of the museum and into the ears by focusing on it's music instead of it's "historical significance."

01. "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" - This opening track really sets the mood for the entire album. The song shifts styles abruptly just like the album does from song to song. And of course the crowd noise and the entire "Sgt. Pepper" concept are introduced here.

02. "With a Little Help from my Friends" - I much prefer this original Beatles version over the completely over the top Joe Cocker version that is probably more famous at this point (mostly because it was used as the theme song to the very popular Wonder Years TV show.) To me it's the perfect song for Ringo to sing and of course John & Paul wrote it specifically for Ringo. It fits like a glove. What a brilliant song.

03. "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" - This psychedelic journey through the mind of John Lennon remains one of the band's most famous songs. I love how it goes from the visions of the verse to the exciting sing along of the chorus.

04. "Getting Better" - The "it couldn't get much worse" lyric that Lennon added to this McCartney song is such a great example of the way that Lennon and McCartney made each others songs better even when they weren't righting them "eyeball to eyeball" like in the early days.

05. "Fixing a Hole" - Possibly the best lyrics Paul McCartney ever wrote. Another one of my favorites on an album filled with favorites.

06. "She's Leaving Home" - More great lyrics from Paul McCartney. What a gorgeous song too. Paul was definitely at the top of his game in 1967.

07. "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite" - I think my favorite part of this song is the cut up tape section where it sounds like sort of insane random carnival music.

08. "Within You Without You" - I know a lot of people just can't get down with this kind of music but I certainly can. It's a really tripped out journey into the center of your own mind or is that your own heart? Or perhaps it's India!

09. "When I'm Sixty-Four" - I love how quickly the musical styles change with this album. We go from a carnival to India to music hall!

10. "Lovely Rita" - In an album filled with stand-out tracks, this one is probably somewhat forgettable in comparison. Of course it's still a great song.

11. "Good Morning Good Morning" - There's some interesting time changes in this one. I also love the Jimi Hendrix style guitar leads by Paul McCartney.

12. "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)" - This song, of course, ties together the whole album by linking us back to the first song. It gives the impression that everything we've been hearing (even though it's all of these wildly different styles) has been a part of one big performance by this fictional band.

13. "A Day in the Life" - The greatest song ever. - 2361

Quality Outlines Of A Unique Selection Of Feature Films

By Carl Sharp

The list below has some good movie reviews. In this paragraph I will give you some search terms to reach movie down load sites. There are a lot of different phrases you can use, try "Online Music Downloads", "Top 100 Movie Rentals", or "Film Downloading".

The Lost Boys: A family moves to a California town where the local adolescent gang turns out to be vampires! A smooth film aimed at a younger audience. Both the humor and the structuring are pretty apparent. Only genuine fireworks materialize at the end in the very last showdown. Cast includes Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Dianne Wiest, Bamard Hughes, Edward Herrmann, Kiefer Sutherland, Jami Gertz, Corey Feldman, and Jamison Newlander. (97 minutes, 1987)

The Eiger Sanction: Pseudo James Bond misfire, often accidentally ludicrous. Exhilarating mountain climbing scenes don't make up for films numerous defects and ungodly magnitude. Jack Cassidy as gay detective gives the only artistic performing. Cast includes Clint Eastwood, George Kennedy, Vonetta McGee, Jack Cassidy, Thayer David, Heidi Bruhl, Reiner Schoene, and Brenda Venus. (128 minutes, 1975)

Playing God: This film is a preposterous tale of drug addicted ex-surgeon Duchovny employed by gangster Hutton to be the personal crisis medical expert for his shot-up and sliced cronies. The improvised medical therapy is so entirely comical that it upstages the ridiculousness of the tale line. Why this film was ever made is genuinely a case for The X Files. Cast includes David Duchovny, Timothy Hutton, Angelina Jolie, Michael Massee, Peter Stormare, Gary Dourdan, John Hawkes, and Andrew Tieman. (93 minutes, 1997)

The Hi-Lo Country: Tale of 2 men in post-WW2 New Mexico who fall in love with the identical lady and she's already married to someone else. A tribute to the dude way of life and the delights of real kinship, this film has so much going for it (including Harrelson's wonderful performance as a hell-raiser and Oliver Stapleton's cinematography) that it's a pity it doesn't hit the bull's-eye and Arquette is so boring. Cast includes Woody Harrelson, Billy Crudup, Patricia Arquette, Sam Elliott, Cole Hauser, Penelope Cruz, Darren Caves, Jacob Vargas, James Gammon, Lane Smith, and Katy Jurado. (114 minutes, 1998)

Just for Fun: A group of adolescents develop their own partisan group to climb the pop polls completes this forgettable rock musical trifle. Cast includes Mark Wynter, Cherry Roland, Richard Vernon, Reginald Beckwith, John Wood, Bobby Vee, The Crickets, Freddie Cannon, Johnny Tillotson, Ketty Lester, and The Tremeloes. (85 minutes, 1963)

Murderous Maids: A new take on the infamous 1933 murder case that rocked most of France. Christine Papin (Testud) and her younger sibling Lea, like their mom before them, work as house maids. However, Christine's simmering resentment of her mom, her circumstance, and her administrators starts to wear on her in assorted damaging ways. Cast includes Sylvie Testud, Julie-Marie Parmentier, Isabelle Renauld, Jean-Gabriel Nordmann, and Marie Donnio. (94 minutes, 2000)

Down to You: Prinze and Stiles futilely try to buddy us up by talking straight away into the camcorder, clarifying how their once idyllic college romance went bust (albeit not as bust as the film). In some way, this film manages to find room for subplots in reference to a Television show and a friend who has a try as an adult-film entrepreneur with a sort of bohemian knowledgeable porn actress. Cast includes Freddie Prinze, Jr., Julia Stiles, Shawn Hatosy, Selma Blair, Zak Orth, Ashton Kutcher, Rosario Dawson, Henry Winkler, and Lucie Amaz. (91 minutes, 2000)

Killpoint: A boring, one dimensional action film with cop Fong and agent Roundtree on the track of gun runners. This film is action packed and brutally vicious. Cast includes Leo Fong, Richard Roundtree, Cameron Mitchell, Pile Perforate, and Wish Holy day. (89 minutes, 1984)

The Dinner Game: Humorous charade in regards to a self centered publisher who partakes in a monthly custom with his buddies to ask the stupidest individual they could find to supper. Lhermitte has discovered a doozy, a civil servant (Villeret) who interferes in his own life in incredible ways. The work is comically ludicrous without being nasty. Cast includes Thierry Lhermitte, Jacques Villeret, Francis Huster, Daniel Prevost, Alexandra Vandernoot, and Catherine Frot. (81 minutes, 1998)

Understanding The Secret Law Of Attraction

By Stuart B Clark

Ever since the release of the movie 'The Secret', thousands of people around the world have wanted learn all they can about the secret law of attraction. Numerous books also followed the release of the movie. Even before this, there had been a lot of information on the subject, but people really did not understand the concept and people still do not understand how the process works. Here you will find some information to help so that you too can understand the power of the law of attraction.

The destiny or fate of a person is determined through the thoughts that they possess. The mind has the ability to allow a person to get anything they want. Additionally it can help them to become the person they desire. Either unconsciously or consciously all successful people have used the law of attraction to achieve their goals.

The full development of soul, mind, and body is contingent to the material things that we possess in life. From those things we contain the ability to give to others we love. We become happy ourselves from the happiness we bring to others. Material things are important not only to our comfort but to our full development as human beings which is why the secret law of attraction is so important.

Freeing yourself of certain ways of thinking, will allow mastery of the law of attraction. You have to be able to understand that all things in life are just a substance of thoughts that one creates and it is from that everything is made. Your thoughts are what create your life the way in which you want. You are the person who contains the ability to change life and create it in the way you wish to live.

To get what you want, you need to have a full understanding of exactly what it is that you do want. This idea must be clear and specific. Writing it down will help you to have more of an understanding of the things that you wish to have and it must be within the present tense of how you write it. This way, for your mind you have already achieved the goal and it is something you should read daily in order to focus your mind.

The thing you want should be something that your really want. It should have the potential for making your life better. You also must contain a certainty that it is a thing that you want. While thinking of this thing, you should have your mind clear from any other thoughts. This will allow you then to focus on the true desire that you have. The best way to improve concentration and focus is through meditation.

While concentrating on the things that you want, you should be in a place that is quiet to allow yourself to go into a state of relaxation. This way you can get in touch with the subconscious mind in order to access the universe. After you ask, you need to believe that it will come to you and that trust will make it more likely to work.

As you are asking for what you want, you need to visualize it clearly. See yourself with the things that you are going to have. Use your imagination throughout this process so that you can give the universe a clear picture of the things that you want. You should show gratitude afterward, since you know that you will receive. Every day you should feel grateful for the things you have now and not see anything in a negative light.

At no time should you allow yourself to be distracted from getting what you want. You have to have trust and believe that through using the secret law of attraction it will materialise. - 2361

Golfing Tips for Beginners: 5

By Rhys Jones

'Drive for show, but putt for the dough' is what we've all seen and understood from professional golfers in every tournament and championship either live or on TV.

The masters of golf can drive a ball from here to eternity, but it all boils down to how many strikes of the ball it takes to put the ball in the hole. The long accurate drives don't amount to anything if you're unable to putt the ball accurately.

Choosing a putter is very important, but using whatever putter you have consistently is even more so. I've had the same putter for fifteen years: I know what it feels like in my hand; I know it's weight; I know how that plays into my putts.

Putting takes a great deal of practice. For example, typically, we drive the ball eighteen times during a game, but putt at least twice that amount. So doesn't it make sense that we should practice our putting at least twice as much as our driving? So, if you can't get to the practice green often enough, just practice on your carpet at home.

Keep in mind that no ball can make it into the hole, if it doesn't have enough power behind it to get it there. Take the time to get down on the grass and look at the path from your ball to the hole. Does it slant one way or the other? Is it uphill or downhill?

The stance is: stand with your feet spread for balance and line up the putt. Keep you hands, arms and shoulders completely still. Imagine that you are a "bobble head" and that you move from just below the chest. Keep your head directly over the ball; pull your club back; keep your hands, wrists, arms and shoulders steady - the movement comes from your chest; hit the ball, following through with your club.

Be sure to learn from each putt and remember the lesson. Practice, practice, practice! - 2361

For a movie that is nearly two and half hours of running length, it has a story and not just a romance flick.

Inspired by Candec Bushnells book, this movie has definitely met up with some problems trying to make a movie out of a book and make it hit the big screens, nevertheless it has a good blend of all the emotions as well as some sensual bodily display to take your breath away.

If youre wondering what you should really expect out of this movie, then its all about the confused women, who dont really know how well to react to the sudden surprises they face in their life, but need some passionate moments every night (it doesn't matter with whom).

When Carrie Bradshaw and Samantha Jones come in and along with Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbes join, it is a laugh basket as expected, but the movie is spiced up by some romantic moves of the duos, just as they did in the TV shows.

Viewing Live Sports With TV On PC

By Chris Bishop

It's well-documented that Americans are heavy users of the internet and that it has become the de facto source of information for the majority of them. Those surveyed would also pick internet over TV. Then again, Internet streaming video, virtually the sole alternative to traditional television, brings both. It already accounts for a quarter of total television viewership, dwarfing paid downloads, VOD (video on demand) and mobile viewing. Yes, Free TV on PC is on its way, big time!

Actually, Internet TV is nothing new. It's just that supporting infrastructure had not been in its favor in the early days. Conditions have advanced by heaps by now: broadband access, power PCs, super-sized storage and open hardware, software and networking. On top of it, internet user base volume has also long surpassed the critical mass level. The web is clearly rich for the picking by many an industry, not least Television.

There is currently a variety of online television most prominent of which are Internet TV (ITV), Internet Protocol TV (IPTV), Broadband TV and User Generated Content TV (UGC TV). Internet TV is the prime favorite as it's free and unrestricted in both access and distribution. IPTV is quality but generally fee-based or contracted while Broadband TV is too geeky for the larger audience and UGC TV programming (restricted to clips) are inherently never full-fledged TV.

The appeal of distributing television programming through the internet is unquestionable. Take Watch TV On Computer for instance. From the providers' standpoint, it's inexpensive, quick-to-market, has boundless reach and advertising revenue potential or is just simply good advertising itself. For the viewers, the benefits are even more clear-cut, with it being free of charge, global, extensive variety and the ultimate combo of the two greatest favorites, TV and Internet.

TV and Internet, these are the two greatest pastimes of modern lifestyle. The situation is perfectly set for Watch TV On Computer. It will consolidate and optimize many things, none more than expenditure, time and even space. The majority of homes and workplaces are already equipped for it as all that's needed is a PC with internet access. Most of all, it will be a breakthrough for the many who are constantly torn between TV and internet, be it leisure, work or studies.

Having that said, the sheer volume and choice of raw free Watch TV On PC can be overwhelming but the solution to this have been quick to emerge. How else but ......? Since the television programming is viewed through the PC, it's almost automatic that computer software program would be employed to control and organize the access, download and watching of TV on PC. There is a handful of proprietary software retailing on the net that do an excellent job of it and as free TV on PC evolve, these software would only get better. - 2361

Baby Shower Party Planning Guide

By Cathy Cripps

Hosting a Baby shower has significantly changed over the last few years and have gradually become more commercialized and elaborate and well planned. Baby showers are occasions that are held for family or friends who are expecting a child or in some cases an adopted child.

Baby showers can make an expectant mother feel more secure in the fact that her friends are all pulling for her and giving moral and financial support. Usually the baby shower is organized by non-relatives. But today, there it isn't abnormal to find family members, support group members, church friends and pretty much anyone except the expecting mother.

Inviting the Guests Who should you invite? Usually, the guest list will only include those nearest and dearest to the expectant mother. It wouldn't hurt if she gets a first look at the guest list so that she can suggest who should be invited. If you are planning a surprise baby shower, you will have to do a little research on who should be attending instead of running the list through the expectant mother.

Traditionally baby showers for the second born child, are a much smaller gathering where the amount of guests is usually kept down to the closest family and friends to the mother-to-be. Firstborn baby showers however are a little different and they tend to have a larger guest list since it is, after all, the mother-to-be's first child.

What you need to remember about the baby shower is that the goal is intimacy. So when planning the baby shower try to include those that are close friends and family.

There are many informal ways that you can choose to invite your guests such as email, phone and other ways. But of course the more traditional way is to send out invitations or letters to the guests that will be attending. This also has the affect of making the baby much more formal event and in many countries is the only acceptable way to invite the guests.

What About the Guys At The Baby Shower The nature of the party is probably going to tend towards the feminine side; if the organizers of the party have a provision for this, then inviting men would be fine. It also depends on the men, since the party may dwell on topics such as pregnancy, children, and other motherly topics, they might not be that excited to join. All in all, it depends on the preference of the organizers.

Baby Shower Venue Can Be Anywhere! As long as it can keep with the placid and fun nature of the occasion, any place would be fine to host the shower party. The more usual places on baby shower lists are backyards, formal halls, restaurants, and basically any room that has the amenities to make a baby shower successful. Just make sure the venue is not crowded and stressful to the mother-to-be. It also pays to make sure the venue is set long before the actual baby shower happens.

When To Hold The Baby Shower Party It is not advisable to host the baby shower to late in the pregnancy as this is a time where the mother needs to be focused and rested for the pending birth. The best time to hold the baby shower is usually between two or three months before the birth. This allows the mother-to-be to have a very pleasant distraction and to see how much support there is for the new arrival. This also gives the guest the opportunity to purchase gifts for the baby that the mother has not had a time to buy herself.

There is nothing more pleasant for an expectant mother than having a baby shower party. The idea of the baby shower is to take a lot of the stress, such as medical appointments and all the poking and prodding that takes place and of course the pending birth off their minds and helps provide a means for friends and family to show their support and of course, the many appreciated baby gifts from invited family and friends who attend.

A well organized baby shower will be remembered appreciated forever by mothers long after they have delivered their children. Having a plan and being prepared will reduce the amount of complications and distractions so that you can thoroughly enjoy the baby shower party. - 2361

Macy, Ken Hudson Campbell, Toby Huss, Duane Martin, and Harland Williams. (92 minutes, 1996)

The Kingdom: The terrorism story is reinvented as an action film. Sidewalk Stories: Alluring, Chaplinesque fantasy that, in its own humble way, boldly remarks on the plight of the destitute in America. Lane stars as a destitute gentleman battling for existence on the roads of Greenwich Village who finds himself caring for a small child whose father has been stabbed by robbers. Cast includes Charles Lane, Nicole Alysia, Sandye Wilson, Darnell Williams, and Trula Hoosier. (97 minutes, 1989)
