The WoW Shaman - The Ins And Outs Of This Complicated Class

By Mick Mananite

The WoW shaman is one of the most fun and rewarding classes to play in WoW, but they do have a steep learning curve and few players have really learned to master the art of playing a shaman effectively. They are a true jack of all trades class, being one of the most effective hybrids out there.

The WoW Shaman wears mail armor at higher levels and they excel in a number of different roles, mostly depending on the talents they choose. The three talent trees are elemental, enhancement and restoration.

Originally, the shaman class was restricted only to players who chose the Horde faction but this was extended with the coming of the Burning Crusade expansion pack so that now the new Alliance race, the Dranei can also choose to role the shaman class. For Horde, they are restricted to Taurens, Orcs and Trolls.

The three talent trees available to the shaman class is elemental, enhancement and restoration. Elemental shamans excel at providing high amounts of ranged damage by improving the spells at their disposal.

Shamans do have a steep learning curve due to their relatively complicated set of talents but they can also be a very rewarding class to play and they are no longer just limited to Horde players as they used to be.

Restoration is the specification that is always in highest demand when it comes to raiding and other endgame PvE ventures. Restoration focuses on improving the healing ability of the WoW shaman by improving the power of their healing spells and reducing the mana cost of them. These can make for extremely effective healers, amongst the best in the game and thus they are always popular and a restoration shaman should never have any problem finding a group in the end game. - 2361
