Who Will Be the NCAA Football Champs?

By Marquis LaBachia

So, nearly all of us look forward to the substantial games we play beyond the conference, and others await to those huge conference games. But then there's the minority that ruminate about January. I'll admit, I do it all the time.

Especially since I root for a team who hasn't been victorious in a bowl game since 2006, whereas up to that, they had been victorious in five straight. But I still stand loyally alongside them, and the Big Ten Conference.

So what may happen in the non-BCS bowls? I have no clue, I'll work that out at some point this week or next. But as far as the BCS Bowl Games, here's what I trust is going to go down, and how it can be kept from taking place.

ROSE BOWL sponsored by Citi (Pasadena, California) OSU Buckeyes vs (at) U.S.C. Trojans This game may undoubtedly be avoided. I expect USC to suffer defeat one game during the year, as they usually do.

If they get past the Buckeyes on September 12, then they'll be okay. But look out for the Cal Bears. I still predict S.C. will win the Pac-ten, lately becoming known as the "Pac-1." The Buckeyes play the men of troy at home in September, where they'd much rather be than Pasadena, mere miles from the Los Angeles Coliseum. But look out for that November 7 matchup, in Happy Valley.

Needless to say, the last time the Bucks traveled there, they blew out the Lions 37-17. But they need a win, particularly if they go down to USC in September. If they might loss the Trojans in September, and the Lions in November, they might be headed for the National Title. And the same goes for USC.

Tostitos FIESTA BOWL Oklahoma Sooners vs Notre Dame Fighting Irish One issue could prevent this contest, 10/17/09. That marks the date of the Red River Rivalry between Oklahoma and the Horns.

The winner of that, which I definitely expect to be Texas, should pretty much coast to the National Title. In spite of this.. keep an eye out for the OSU Cowboys. Notre Dame's return to stardom should begin hitting huge strides this year.

They have an extremely skilled franchise, and a number thirteen preseason ranking. Assuming they lose to USC, but beat their 84 other enemies (haha), they should find a nice spot in the BCS at year's end.

BCS National Championship Game presented by Citi financial (Pasadena, Ca) Florida Gators vs the Texas Longhorns The Florida Gators. Almost every person picks them to make it to Pasadena on January 7th, led by one of the best players of our era, Tim Tebow. They have a few tribulations in the course of the season.. but everyone is circling their October 10 matchup, at LSU. That and the Florida-Georgia matchup on Halloween are the principal obstacles for the Gators, in addition to whomever they face in the SEC Title. - 2361
