Learning The Violin On Your Own

By Ria Yuka

For a beginner, the violin can be a very difficult instrument to learn. If this is so, many would be wondering if it would be much harder without an instructor. But this could apply to some, while the opposite could apply to others.

Instead of trying to find out if one needs a personal instructor, first find out what your real intentions are behind learning the violin. Have you given it enough thought, and is the interest strong and serious? Passion is a vital ingredient in learning any musical instrument, especially for one that requires great technical ability as the violin does.

A lot of discipline is also essential in picking up the instrument. It is definitely required to become proficient in it. Without discipline, skill levels will drop and eventually, everything would become a waste of time from the beginning.

Many have insisted that the best way to learning the violin is being taught by a personal teacher. But there are millions of musicians worldwide, and not just violinists, who have established themselves without having gone through a formal education. Their secret to success owes a lot to passion, discipline and dedication.

The path to becoming skilled in playing the violin with self taught methods must be reinforced by all these qualities. Through strong determination and some good fortune, it is even possible to become a performing violinist. And you might never need to spend a single cent on having a personal violin teacher.

An immediate benefit that will arise from not having an instructor is the savings created. You do not need to pay music tuition fees to yourself. Instead, the savings can be invested in improving other areas, such as accessories and better self learning materials.

Musicians should always explore the music and find a direction of their own. This is something that is greatly evident in those who have been self taught. As a violinist, it is also fully applicable and might result in a greater appreciation of the music.

Not everything will be rosy when attempting such self taught methods. It might be especially difficult in the beginning trying to figure things out on your own. But engaging in a like-minded community will be of great help. Through due application of dedication and discipline, together with your passion, you can definitely learn how to play the violin on your own. - 2361
