What Is The Best Way To Build RC Cars?

By Michael Castelli

So how does one build RC car which then you can have hours of fun with? In this article we offer a few tips which should help you when it comes to building your own remote control car, whether it be powered by fuel such as nitro or have an electric engine. Certainly for those who are only building a remote control car for the first time one that has an electric engine is strongly recommended.

The next thing you need to decide is whether you buy all the components separately or if you instead purchase an RTR or ARR kit. Certainly buying the components separately to build RC cars is great fun and allows you to build a customized one, but for those who have never built such a car before then using the kits with all the necessary components included is far better.

RTR (ready to run) kits have all the components including the radio to control them included. Whereas the ARR kits are minus the radio so you can then choose one that you like and feel comfortable with.

Certainly buying an RC car kit offers much more of challenge to you than if you buy one already built. It is crucial with such kits that time is taking over the building to ensure that each part fits together properly. Also building one for yourself means you will understand how they function and if at any stage you need to upgrade or repair parts you will find doing so much easier.

Once you have decided on the kind of kit it is you want to build RC cars from you now need to make a decision on whether you want an electronic or fuel powered engine on it. As mentioned above for those who are only just taking up this hobby for the first time building one with an electric engine is recommended.

Before you can start building a remote control car along with purchasing the kit you need to make sure that you have the right tools to build RC cars with. The tools that you are going to need in order to build a remote control car are mini screwdrivers, a Tamiya wrench, electrical screwdriver or normal ones, cutting pliers, long nose pliers, scissors, electrical tape, brush and super glue. Using an electrical screwdriver will actually help to speed up the process of building your RC car. Also you need to make sure that you use the right kind of screwdriver otherwise you could end up finding yourself stripping the screw.

The next thing you need to do is get everything laid out on the table ready that you will need to build your remote control car. It is a good idea if you cover the table with an old towel as this will help to ensure that all parts don't fall off of it.

As well as laying out all the parts to build RC cars you need to ensure that all the tools required and listed previously are close by. Plus in front of you place the manual that is going to take you step by step through the construction process to build RC car kit that you have brought.
